Each player is dealt 13 cards. One card is placed face-up to start the discard pile. A random player is chosen to go first — the game begins immediately.
On each turn, draw a card from the deck or discard pile, then discard one. Arrange your cards into valid sets (same rank, different suits) and sequences (consecutive ranks, same suit).
Once you've formed valid melds with all 13 cards, declare your hand. Your opponents count their unmatched card points. Reach the pool limit and you're eliminated — last player standing wins.

Face cards and Aces carry 10 points each. If they're not fitting into a meld quickly, discard them before your opponent declares — those unmelded points go straight onto your score.
Your opponents' discards tell you what they don't need — and what they might be building. If someone keeps discarding 7s and 8s, they're probably not building a sequence in that range. Use that information.
In Pool Rummy, a timely drop costs fewer points than a bad declaration. If your hand is weak after the first draw, a first drop (20 pts in 101 Pool) is often smarter than playing on and risking 40+ points.
Don't waste jokers completing low-value sequences you could form naturally. Save them for high-value melds or to complete a second sequence when you're close to declaring.
